Seed Blessing Celebration
February 28, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre
A seed blessing event where Indigenous knowledge and ceremony will be highlighted.
The Haudenosaunee annual cycle of thanksgiving ceremonies includes this late Winter/early Spring event, featuring the Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving Address. An Anishinaabe knowledge keeper will share traditional knowledge and teaching about seeds, plants, and medicines. Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre (SSSC) staff will share about the SSSC garden and provide small packets of seeds from their garden, with a note describing the plant and a recipe, to be shared with participants. Participants are encouraged to bring seeds from their own gardens and share them with others also. A Rocha Manitoba will participate and will share about their work as well.
Snacks and a lunch of Three Sisters Stew, with ingredients from the SSSC garden will be served.
Event registration is $26/guest and includes lunch and snack.
A limited number of rooms are available if you would like to arrive on Friday, February 27, and stay overnight. You may check in any time after 3 pm on Friday. Saturday morning breakfast will be included in the accommodation fee of $87/guest.
This event is generously sponsored by Indigenous Ministries of the Christian Reformed Church in North America.
